Planet Mirth is bringing five comedians to the Laurel & Hardy Museum in Ulverston on Friday night.

Headliner this month is Rich Wilson. His show “Death Becomes Him” received a pick of the Fringe Award in Edinburgh and he is now touring the country stopping in at such prestigious venues as the Soho Theatre.

Rich is popularly regarded as one of the funniest comedians in the UK. Over his 15 years on the comedy circuit, he has worked with a multitude of mainstream acts such as Micky Flanagan, Sarah Millican and Rob Beckett.

Rich even has a mention in Frank Skinners "On The Road" autobiography where Frank describes him as "a very funny man." He has performed at all the major UK comedy clubs including Glee, Jongleurs, The Comedy Cafe, Big Night Out and is the regular MC for the Comedy Store in both London and Manchester.

Rich is also the host of the popular podcast, Insane In The Men Brain. A show in which he talks to funny and interesting people about their experiences with men’s mental health. Previous guests have included; Scroobius Pip, Rob Beckett, Phil Ellis, Jen Brister, Dane Baptiste, Richard Thomas (Jerry Springer The Opera) and Simon Evans.

With his impressive CV and stylish delivery, Rich has the unique ability to tame the toughest audiences in the country with his commanding presence, everyman demeanour and impeccable timing.

MC for the evening is Meryl O'Rourke, Frankie Boyle’s tour support of choice, heading out on the road with him in 2016, 14, 12, 11 and 2010. In his book Work!Consume!Die! Frankie calls Meryl "Inspiringly funny".

Meryl's cheeky routines of dysfunctionality have seen her secure gigs at the most respected comedy clubs across the land including headlining for Hot Water, Last Laugh, Manford’s, Just The Tonic and CKP.

Meryl is a highly praised gag writer, having recently written for Mock the Week, New World Order, Dress To Impress & Frankies Tour Of Scotland. A stolen joke of hers went viral on Facebook, reaching at least 100,000 likes and 15 million views.

Meryl’s solo stand up show Bad Mother was a hit at Edinburgh festival. Directed by Foster's Comedy Award nominee Thom Tuck, it received 5 star reviews and was The Times Critic's Choice.

Harriet Dyer was diagnosed with bipolar rather late in life. She describes her critically acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe debut hour as "about me exploring mental health struggles, stigma and just generally trying to figure out what was wrong with me."

The show resonated with a lot of people and led to Harriet setting up a night in Manchester called, "Barking Tales" where the comedians do material about mental health. It's a real safe space environment that's acquired quite the cult following. The folk that come tend to have to have mental health issues themselves, for a lot of them it's the only social event they go to. Barking Tales recently won the City Life / Manchester Evening News, "Best Comedy Night in Manchester" award, beating off such esteemed rivals as the Comedy Store.

Most recently Harriet has appeared on such shows as Sarah Millican's Elephant in the Room, Russell Howard and Friends, has been a guest host on The Jason Manford Show and has also just filmed a short for BBC3.

Lovdev Barpaga was a carer for 13 years before turning his hand to stand-up comedy. Crowned the UK Pun Champion 2017, he is often referred to as the 21st century Asian Ken Goodwin.

Lovdev possesses an effortless and gentle likeability, often laughing as much as his audience. This is a man in love with his job and it really shows.

Lovdev featured on the line up for Big Value at Edinburgh Festival 2013 and has appeared on BBC’s Asian Network Live. Joe Lycett says that he is "One of the most brilliant daft comics you will ever see.”

Completing the line up is a relative newcomer to the scene Howard Anstock. In his short time in stand up, he has taken the scene by storm and has become an award winner, scooping the Best New Act Award for Cheshire Cat Comedy and reaching the finals in the Best New Act Award at the Yorkshire Fringe in 2017

Tickets, priced at £11.50 are available from the Laurel and Hardy Museum, Brogden Street, on 01229 582292 or via facebook.com/planetmirthcomedy.
