A teenage kite surfer flew through the air at 60ft after taking to the waves in 80mph winds during Storm Ciara.

Athlete Tom Bridge, 18, braved the worst storm to hit Britain in years to go kite surfing at sea off the coast of Exmouth, Devon, yesterday (9).

Jaw-dropping head cam footage shows Tom, from Exmouth, rise high into the sky during gale-force winds as he races along the water.

The Met Office advised only 'essential' travel, but adrenaline junkie and Red Bull athlete Tom saw the storm as an opportunity to face the harsh conditions.

Photos and videos of Tom's death-defying stunt shows him being catapulted up to 60ft into the air by the gale force winds.

Tom has been the European freestyle Youth Champion since 2010 and has won the 2013 and 2014 PKRA Youth World Championship.

He is the youngest member of the Bridge family, who have a history of kite surfing success.

Eric, his dad, has worked in the water sports industry for 18 years and his mum, Steph, is a five-time kite race World Champion and ranked the number one woman in the world.
