The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Cumbria for wind and rain.
The forecast for the North West is not due to be as bad as yesterday.
The forecast said: Most of the overnight heavy rain should have cleared away by mid-morning.
The rest of the day will see sunshine and scattered showers blowing in on a still very strong southwesterly wind, some of these heavy, with thunder and hail.
Maximum temperature 9 °C.
