A MARKET stall which sells everything from comic books to figurines has relocated.

A grand ribbon cutting ceremony was held by the deputy mayor of Barrow at the Collectors Corner shop.

The owner of the stall had previously been in another unit for six months before deciding he needed a larger space.

Darren Roby said: “It's really nice to have this sort of event for my new stall. The market needs more things like this to happen.

“My stall has the ability to give people nostalgia with items they had when they were younger.

“We are having a pinball competition in March where thee winner will win a Slush machine.

“I buy and sell collectibles and I also source for customers.

“People want to look at products before they buy in this kind of retail market because online shopping is a risk with collectables.

“I want to say thanks to Keith Ansell for the building work as well as the other market traders and everyone in the office for their support.”

Councillor Helen Wall had the honour of officially opening the Collectors Corner stall near the entrance of the Market Hall.

She said: “I absolutely love it. People moan about the high street and the shops - come into the market and it is all here.

“This is the high street we are looking for - people with hobbies that they have returned into a business.

“The people are lovely. Barrow has a friendly reputation and they encapsulate this. They’re real ambassadors for the town.”

The market was the recipient of a few awards in the Thebestof annual awards; Barrow Business Of The Year, the best in the UK for Markets and Events and 21st in the Top 100 UK businesses.

Jacqui Armstrong, market administration assistant, said: “I am also absolutely thrilled with this year's announcement.

“It’s so rewarding when one of our businesses is so popular, it needs to expand.”
