SCENES from two BBC Holocaust memorial programmes broadcast last night were filmed at a south Cumbrian school.
Windermere School was featured on two shows which focused on the Windermere Boys, a group of 300 Jewish children who settled in the Lake District after World War Two.
The children were encouraged to swim in the lake, play football and given basic English lessons, eventually becoming part of new families.
Their stories were captured in the BBC Two drama The Windermere Children and followed by the BBC Four documentary The Windermere Children – In Their Own Words to mark Holocaust Memorial Day 2020.
The Lake District school said: “We were delighted to have scenes filmed at all three of our school sites.”
