Our visitors certainly hopped into action for Australia and the Animal Rescue Collective this weekend!

On Saturday and Sunday we opened up the doors to Safari Zoo for free admission to everyone who donated £5 to the Australia fund in aid of the Animal Rescue Collective.

We as a team had witnessed the horrifying news stories, the threats to unique species and entire habitats wiped out and we wanted to do something.

After some research and recommendations we chose the Animal Rescue Collective - their work extends across multiple sanctuaries and individuals offering respite and care to survivors of the fires, as well as funding and coordinating the transportation of supplies and resources to feed and nourish those lucky to escape the flames but under serious threat of dehydration and starvation in the aftermath as natural food and water resources have been decimated.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend.

Donations in place of on-the-door admission fees were added to with the sales of “hopping into action” merchandise featuring a kangaroo donated by the amazing Felltarn Friends.

Our giraffe, lemurs, otters, tigers, penguins and roos got involved, with over 500 people joining in with feedings - all the proceeds went straight into the fund.

Online donations and the purchase of roo experiences; bucket donations and proceeds from a special cafe meal all contributed to the total raised for the Animal Rescue Collective ; a whopping £5,569.39.

Merchandise and experiences will stay on sale for the foreseeable, donations have been totalled in their entirety and absolutely no costs have been, or will be, taken out by Safari Zoo.

We’ll post a detailed breakdown on our website blog in the coming days of how the total was compiled but for now thank you so much to everyone for supporting such an amazing cause.
