LAUGHS, gags and jokes aplenty are packed into Ulverston Pantomime Society’s 2020 performance of Sleeping Beauty.

The society’s version of Leonard Caddy’s interpretation of the pantomime will kick off at the Coronation Hall in Ulverston on Wednesday and run until Saturday February 1.

From Wednesday to Friday the show will start at 7pm with two shows on Saturday February 1 - at 12 noon and 4.30pm.

Ulverston Pantomime Society has been going strong since 1948, proudly producing pantomimes for the local community every year for the past 70 years, and has a mix of ages and abilities among its members.

A spokesman for the society said: “Get your tickets now for this family fun Pantomime Production of Sleeping Beauty at the Coronation Hall - Ulverston

“Together with a talented local cast, an amazing live orchestra, this show has everything you need for a truly magical adventure.

“We hope to see you there.

"We will also be doing a meet and greet with the cast on the Wednesday and Thursday night performances.”

The society’s latest pantomime comes after they were shortlisted for the National Operatic Dramatic Association awards.

Adam Atkinson has been nominated for best male comedy, Alex Mattinson has been nominated for best choreography, their performance of Cinderella last year has been nominated for best panto, and the pantomime has also been nominated for best musical.

A society spokesman said: “All of us at Ulverston Pantomime Society are absolutely over the moon to be nominated for awards with the North West District 11 NODA (National Operatic Dramatic Association), for last January’s production of Cinderella.”

The awards ceremony will take place on February 21.
