A SEX offender has been convicted of possessing nearly 900 indecent images of children and animals.

Nathan Brian Parker admitted to offences that included making more than 600 indecent photos of children when he pleaded guilty at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court.

The defendant, whose address was given as Preston Prison, was also charged with possessing an image of a person performing a sex act with an animal.

The 26-year-old is due to be sentenced later this month.

The court was told that just before 11am on September 24, police conducted an unannounced visit to Parker’s home address.

He was said to have made admissions to them that he had been looking at pictures.

Officers seized two mobile phones, a laptop, a tablet, two storage devices and a smart watch, which after examination they found indecent images on.

The offences were all said to have occurred between February 5 2018 and July 12 2019.

Parker's case has been sent to Carlisle Crown Court for sentencing on January 27.

He was previously jailed last year for a string of offences including drawing images depicting child abuse.

Sentencing him to a 24-month suspended prison sentence, Judge Peter Davies said: "These are grisly offences.

"You draw bestial pictures, sexually abusive images for your own delectation.

"You are an extremely disturbing young man."

Parker was previously a resident of Ennerdale Close in Dalton.
