A NEWSAGENT has been given permission to open a store in Barrow selling food from Romania, Russia, Lithuania and Poland.

An application submitted to Barrow Borough Council to change the use of the former City Lynx base in Church Street has been approved.

The applicant has already invested £3,500 in equipment and fixtures and fittings for the newsagents including a till, fridge, cigarette cabinet, security cameras and shelving.

The businessman said: "Barrow is a multicultural town with many Romanians, Polish, Lithuanians and Russians.

"My idea is to give them a taste of home and give the wider community the chance to experience other foods."
