CUMBRIA police has announced 18 new recruits have joined their ranks.
The student officers are to be deployed in different locations around the region with the hope to improve policing in the area.
This is part of a recruitment campaign called Operation Uplift that started in September 2019 where Cumbria police hopes to gain more officers in the force that are supporting local communities, building relationships and combating crime.
This is a national recruitment campaign which has been launched to recruit 20,000 new police officers in the UK over the next three years.
Urging people to join the police and ‘be a force for all’, the campaign is aiming to see up to 6,000 additional officers recruited in its first wave, with the government committing £750 million for 2020-21.
