THREE student police officers from Barrow have helped raised more than £1,000 for a Cumbria children’s hospice.
Tom Lawson, Liam Poole and Oliver Braithwaite made sure their colleagues and friends chipped in to bring together £1,100.80 by holding a charity football match, among other initiatives. All of the money raised will go to Jigsaw Children’s Hospice in Carlisle.
The goodwill gesture was made by the three just before they left the county police force this month.
Off the pitch, the public-spirited trio raised the funds through ticket sales for the big game, hampers and football scratch cards.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “This was a fantastic achievement by our student officers - intake D19 - who have raised £1,100.80 for Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice. This group of students are due to leave Cumbria Police HQ and we wish them the best of luck.”
