A SCHOOL welcomed back its pupils to the new term by announcing a fundraising success.

Dalton St Mary's CE Primary School said it had raised more than £200 as part of Dalton Christmas Tree Festival.

The festival, held at St Mary's Church, raised thousands of pounds overall with charity collection boxes placed next to a number of uniquely decorated festive trees.

Writing in the school newsletter, headteacher Lynda Woodburn thanked everyone who donated.

She said: "Welcome back, I do hope everyone has had a peaceful start to the year and all the children are feeling re-energised for the term ahead.

"I must thank everyone who made a donation to our trees during the Christmas tree festival; we raised a super total of

£241.00.

"We appreciate all contributions to our continued fund raising efforts."

Meanwhile, the school is now accepting nursery applications.

Application forms are available from the school office and the school is able to provide the 30 hour offer for those parents who qualify.
