BARROW will see its support services for estranged families reduced after a provider changeover.
These services in Barrow will now be provided by charity, Family Action.
The services provided by one Furness support centre on Greengate Street, which were delivered by a group called Action For Children, are set to be discontinued. The full extent of the impact on Furness services is not yet clear.
A council spokesman said: “Last year Cumbria County Council awarded Family Action the contract to provide Child and Family Support Services in Barrow across the 0 – 19 age group. This contract began on 1 January this year.
“Family Action will engage with the community to help shape the new service, and will work closely with Cumbria County Council and other partners to develop a model that supports families in Barrow achieve the best outcomes.”
