Readers react to card shops weak Christmas trading

Gillian Baynes said: "I think a lot of people choose to donate to a certain charity at Christmas now rather than send cards. I have made donations for each year since 2016 for what has effected my family, find it much more rewarding we say each year no cards just donations."

Andrea Pitts said: "No surprises there to be honest, the footfall is down in most places on Portland Walk - in fact our town altogether. It's a shame it's all coming to this."

Megan Chapman said: "I haven’t sent cards for a few years now, I’m far too busy to sit and write loads of cards out and get them posted or deliver."

Sharon Cooper said: "I don't do cards now I'd rather give to charity. Cards are not helping our environment it's time we started thinking about what we need trees for and that isn't cards they are a vital part in clearing toxins from the air we breath."
