A GROUP of volunteers from Barrow's Kimberly-Clark facility has lent a helping hand to the town's food bank.
Mindful of the winter pressures on Barrow Foodbank, the Kimberly-Clark employees stepped in over the course of four mornings last month to take on some of the food bank's work, providing the team at Abbey Road Baptist Church with some much-needed assistance.
The Kimberly-Clark team lent over 47 hours of their time to put together hampers, move a large amount of food in the Foodbank's warehouse to accommodate a three-day collection from a local supermarket as well as dating and sorting through nearly 1,000kg of food.
Claire Coulthurst Assistant Manager at the Foodbank said: “Kimberly-Clark has always supported the Foodbank by donating their Andrex and Kleenex products. But this year they have gone above and beyond [their usual contributions] with their support."
"I cannot begin to tell you how much the time and energy given by Kimberly-Clark’s volunteers has helped not only the community but has put the Foodbank at an advantage at a very busy period and taken some of the pressure off the volunteers who work non-stop throughout the year."
