TWO of the next three trains due to leave Millom towards Barrow have been cancelled this afternoon due to a lack of staff.

Both the 4.07pm and 4.42pm services have been scrapped, with Northern Trains blaming the cancellation on a shortage of conductors.

The first train reached Whitehaven, from Carlisle, before being halted and the second only reached Workington.

The next train currently expected to travel south from Millom is due to arrive at 5.12pm.

A 5.45pm service from Millom to Carlisle has also been cancelled due to a shortage of conductors.
