Ulverston’s Hoad Monument illuminated green for one night in support of the NSPCC’s ‘Light For Every Childhood’ Christmas campaign.
The iconic monument was lit in the charity’s distinctive green to help raise awareness of the campaign and make sure every child knows how and where to speak out about abuse.
The monument represented Cumbria in a Christmas campaign spanning the whole country, lighting up 50 buildings in total.
The light-ups are to raise awareness for the thousands of children facing a lonely or frightening Christmas.
Over the festive period, thousands of children will contact Childline feeling alone and unloved.
Sadly, one in three calls to Childline this Christmas will go unanswered. Just £20 means specially-trained counsellors can answer another five children this Christmas.
This year’s campaign also coincided with ‘Get Your Sparkle On’.
