MOTORISTS are facing treacherous conditions on the A590 as gale-force winds of up to 100mph battered Cumbria.
It was previously thought that the weather would bring Storm Brendan to the UK but the Met Office said there will not be enough of an impact to warrant a storm name.
Yellow weather warnings are in place for wind and rain across the north of England and southern Scotland.
Met Office Meteorologist Alex Burkill said the worst of the rain will clear over the next two days.
