Mail readers react to woman’s campaign to save dog...

Dawn Halligan said: Petition signed and shared if you read the full story any dog would have reacted in exactly the same way. The dog is not dangerous, aggressive or out of control. The dog reacted on instinct to protect itself, home and family. This shows the actions of a loving, loyal dog which calmed down as soon as it was reassured there was no danger. This dog cannot be persecuted in this case, it’s absolutely wrong!

Kate Parker said: Heartbreaking! I’ve signed the petition. Absolutely no way should this dog be put to sleep.

Elaine Hendrie said: I totally agree that the dog was only protecting its family

Ruth Turner said: The dog was protecting its owner.

Diane Clarke said: The dog was not in the wrong. Only protecting her owner and property just like any other dog would do. Absolutely disgraceful hope the dog gets justice.

Mike Jones said: I know this dog personally since a puppy, it is the most loving and playful dog you would ever see, will quite happily play with the kids for hours and loves attention, never ever done any thing untoward and is a very well trained dog. It was simply protecting the house and was startled by police entering shouting so instinctive took over, several other officers where playing around and fussing over him when he had calmed down.

Cath White said: Shocking, was only doing what any pet would do and that was protecting its owner.

Darren Collinson said: The dog was doing it's job and the copper got a little nip. The police as a whole need to chill out here to protect the community.

Sharon Smith said: I hope she wins this, no way should the poor dog be put to sleep.

Sandra Goodsir-West said: Why did the police officer enter the room, was there any need.

Zoe Cameron Said: Please stop it getting killed I can't sleep.

Tom Dockerty said: I’ll sign your petition to save it.
