GREAT customer service, passion for floristry, and years of dedication is what has led to this Barrow florist to winning The Mail’s Trader of the Week accolade.

The Little Flower Company on Scott Street is a business that only opened at the start of November 2019, but it has been working hard for its customers ever since, which is what has led to it winning the coveted award.

The shop creates wreaths, arrangements and other botanical services for its customers and even provides delivery locally.

Owner Deborah Cole started as a florist when she was 17 on a flower shop in Scott Street. The 52-year-old previously owned Deborah’s Florist in Ainslie Street for 22 years before she decided to shut up shop four years ago.

However, Mrs Cole said she ‘could not keep away from floristry’, prompting her to revisit her beloved profession back in November. When she did come back to floristry she said that ‘it feels like I am coming home again’.

Deborah and co-worker Kath Mutton have been busy over the last few weeks preparing for various Christmas and wedding events.

All their products are created in store, with wreaths taking around an hour to make each. It is painstaking work that is done with much care and intricacy.

Mrs Cole, said: “It has been mad. We have had loads of customers for weddings and for Christmas products.

“The wreaths have been a big seller, as soon as we make them they are being bought.

“It is amazing to win Trader of the Week, especially as we have only been open for five weeks.

“We are a friendly service and we also do delivery for our customers.” The shop also runs workshops for wreath making that run on Thursdays and Sundays.

Deborah went on to say: “The Sunday classes are fully booked currently, but there is still spaces on the Thursday session. If anyone is interested they can contact us on Facebook or by popping into the shop.”

When spring comes around Deborah is hoping to run flower arranging classes for all abilities as well. So there is plenty on the cards for the future of this shop.

Here is another fantastic example of an independent business doing great things in the community which is what Trader of the Week is all about.
