NEARLY 2,000 coats were donated to people in need as part of a winter campaign.
The Rotary Club of Furness Peninsula thanked people in Barrow and south Cumbria after 1,980 coats were donated in the Wrap Up Cumbria campaign.
The campaign collected unwanted coats and redistributed them to people in need as temperatures drop.
The Rotary club’s president Welma Robinson said: “As usual the people of south Cumbria have been incredibly generous and as a result, people who would have gone cold this winter will now at least have a warm coat to wear.
“Partnership has been key to the success of this project. Rotary clubs working with collection points and the charities who distributed the coats, thank you to everyone.
“In rotary we talk about ‘people of action’ and south Cumbria has certainly lived up to that.”
