A meeting for Barrow’s WASPI group (Women Against State Pension Injustice) will take place at 10am today at the Roundhouse on Biggar Bank.
It is estimated that 4,000 women in the Barrow area could benefit from compensation pledged in Labour’s election manifesto. The affected women would stand to gain up to £31,000.
Pat Molyneux, from Barrow WASPI, said: “Women hit by the state pension age should use their vote wisely. There was a margin of just 207 in 2017 - the votes of the area’s 4,000 affected women could swing it.”
