BARROW Island children had a visit from a magical festive visitor.

Father Christmas made an appearance at the annual St John’s Church’s Christmas Fair on Barrow Island.

The jolly, festive visitor travelled to the church’s annual Christmas Fair to listen to all of the children’s Christmas wishes.

Children and adults alike made their way to the fair which included the magical Santa’s grotto from 2pm-4pm.

The festive spirit filled the air and the joy could be visibly seen on all of those who attended.

The grand raffle was drawn, with the first place winner taking home £50, a great amount just in time for Christmas.

Also on offer to entertain the visitors was a tombola, a delicious cake stall, plenty of craft items and games.

Andy Batchelor, Vicar at St John's Church said: "We have raised roughly £850 although there may well be more to come in.

"The turnout was pretty good, we are always well supported by the Barrow Island community.

"We are only a small congregation at St John's but I would say that the majority joined in with the day and helped out.

"It is going to be a great help towards fixing the window."

The church's window was damaged last December during strong weather.
