Firefighters were called to action this morning after a report of a lorry fire.
Crews from Longtown fire station along with Carlisle West were called at abut 6.45am after it was discovered a lorry was alight.
The lorry is partially blocking the road close to Whitesyke Garden Centre.
On arrival the exhaust was found to be alight and the fire extinguished with a single hosereel and then cooled.
A spokesman for Longtown said: "Our colleagues from Carlisle West Fire Station supported us on scene with additional persons and traffic management, at what was a difficult location for visibility."
Traffic in the area was slow while emergency services worked to extinguish the fire on the A6071.
