FAMILY and friends of a Millom man killed in a crash will help to raise money for a road safety charity at his funeral today.

Stephen Cloudsdale died instantly after a HGV collided with his red Ford Focus at around 5.30am on November 11.

The collision happened close to the cafe junction on the A66 at Stainmore.

Mr Cloudsdale died at the scene and the 50-year-old lorry driver, who is from outside of the county and was uninjured, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He has since been released under investigation.

Mr Cloudsdale, 61, is the husband of Shelagh Cloudsdale, a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at St James Catholic Primary School in Lonsdale Road.

They have one son; Liam.

Mr Cloudsdale was the son of Margaret and the late John as well as a ‘dear brother and uncle’.

The school will be closed today to allow members of staff to attend the funeral.

The service will take place at Holy Trinity Church in Millom at 11am followed by a private cremation.

The funeral notice confirmed any donations will be given to Brake, the road safety charity, ‘to fund their work in supporting families bereaved by road traffic collisions’.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact police.

They are keen to trace a driver whose car was in the vicinity at the time of the crash who may have witnessed the moments leading up to it. Anyone who has information or who witnessed the crash is asked to call police on 101.
