A RESCUE team was called out after a woman in her 50s fell in the Lakes.
Police requested the assistance of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team to go to the aid of a woman who had slipped whilst walking with family and friends and sustained a suspected fractured ankle at 1.11pm on Sunday.
The incident happened just above the main Aira Force waterfall on the approach to Gowbarrow Fell.
The team of 17 volunteers splinted the suspected fracture and the woman was stretchered to an ambulance. The rescue lasted two hours.
