Two men have been charged with GBH after a man was left with a broken jaw and burns to his face.
Officers arrested the two men along with a 17-year-old from Carlisle on Sunday night, on Spencer Street in the city centre.
Leon Hull, 29, of Springkell, Aspatria, and David Foster, 31, of Abbey Street, Carlisle, were due to appeal at Carlisle's magistrates' court today.
The teenager has been released on bail.
A spokesman for Cumbria police said: "The injured man, from Carlisle, remains in hospital in a stable condition.
"He sustained numerous injuries including a broken jaw and burns to his face and head.
"Officers are appealing for anyone who may have any information about the assault to come forward."
Details should be passed to police by calling 101.
