A BARROW Market Hall outlet has bagged The Mail’s Trader of Week accolade after the owner was nominated for being helpful and friendly.

He also makes sure his customers have a great shopping experience when they visit his outlet.

The Bag Man, based in the emporium on Duke Street, caters for all baggage needs for customers.

This can range from travel luggage, such as suitcases, to bags for work or school.

Kevin Syson, owner of The Bag Man, and sometimes referred to as that himself, has been in business for 15 years.

He decided to take on the new challenge after being a groundsman at Lancaster University.

He goes the extra mile for his customers to cater for everyone’s needs, which is why he has built up such a loyal customer base.

This is what has kept his business going for more than a decade.

My Syson, who hails from Middleton near Morecambe, still manages to express his green-fingered tendencies as he mows the grass and clips edges at a caravan park near to where he lives during his spare time.

The 51-year-old father-of-three said: “It is great to be nominated and nice to be recognised for doing a service for local people.

“It is nice that people shop locally nowadays.

“It is tough in business with the internet, but I have my loyal customers.

“I find it quite funny being known as the bag man.

“Christmas stock is coming in soon. There will be fancy bags on offer, all the great glittery and sparkly stuff that you often see with Christmas items.

" They are usually a hit with the customers.

“I would like to say thank you for all the custom over the years and I hope it is going to be the same for many years to come.”

Mr Syson is quite a modest man and said that he keeps himself to himself, which is all the more reason customers are keen to promote a local businessmen like him.
