A GROUP of visitors, including some fromSri Lanka, found out there was a job for everyone in 2000 as  colourful banners and even bubble wrapclothes were made in workshops at Ulverston.

The 18 visitors were in Ulverston withVoluntary Service Overseas and were only too willing to get involved with arange of community activities at the Lanternhouse.

Artist Jasmine Jones led the Raise theSail banner-making workshops, as part of a Spring in the Air school.

All the banners had the theme of Journeysand were to be used in the town's Flag and Banner festival in May.

An article in The Mail, on April 7, noted:"They found themselves strutting down the catwalk in clothes made ofbubble wrap and making telephones out of old drainage systems."

One of the visitors, Sarah Greaves, said:"We heard of the Lanternhouse while we have been living here in Ulverstonand wanted to give it a go.

"We are trying to be as creative aspossible and inspire people using different materials."
