A BARROW man who hit out at security guards after he and his friends became rowdy at a caravan park, has appeared in court.

Jordan Riglar was handed a suspended sentence when he appeared before a crown court judge after being convicted of assault by beating.

Barrow Crown Court sitting at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court was told how the 28-year-old committed the offence at the Haven Caravan Park in Flookburgh on July 12.

Riglar had previously been convicted of assaulting a security guard at the park and was arrested following a chase with police.

He was said to have been at the caravan park with a group of friends and hired a mobile home.

At around 10pm the group was said to have become rowdy, leading to security staff being called.

When two guards arrived the defendant was said to have immediately punched one of the them in the face and attempted to scratch him with his other hand.

The court was told security staff detained Riglar on the floor where he continued to kick out, shout and scream.

Eventually the guards were said to let him go after he calmed down only to punch one of them in the face and run off.

The court heard that police arrived on the scene and chased Riglar as he fled the area and jumped over a fence.

Officers caught up with him following the chase, then detained and arrested him.

Her Honour Judge Beverley Lunts sentenced Riglar to 13-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.

He was also ordered to undertake a 20-day rehabilitation requirement.

As well as that he told to pay £100 in compensation to the victim.

Riglar, of Salthouse Road in Barrow, was also in court earlier in the year on other assault charges.

He pleaded guilty to assaulting four people when he appeared at court in March.

He showered a family in beer following a roadside dispute with a driver, whose wife and children were in the car.
