THERE was a part for everyone as a Furness primary school tackled all the hit songs from three famous musicals in one spectacular show.
The Mail, on Wednesday, June 30 in 1999, noted: "A musical show involving every child is an ambitious undertaking, but Barrow's St Pius X children, trained by teacher Tracie Roberts, pulled it off last night.
"They sang a tuneful selection from three favourite musicals presented with just enough choreography to keep the audience interested and the children on their toes.
"A cleverly chosen programme had the youngest children performing songs from the well-loved Mary Poppins, the middle years singing the brilliant and popular Oliver! while the eldest were given the super-cool Bugsy Malone.
Among the soloists was Marie-Louise O'Connor, who sang Feed the Birds from the Mary Poppins show and the spotlight fell on Pam Stevens, Joseph O'Connor and Daniel Webber to present songs from Oliver!
