A FULL-time carer has been told to leave his home of 30 years after his mum was placed into a nursing home.

David Crawford and his mum Dolena Crawford, 83, have lived in the two-bedroomed house on Derwent Bank, Walney, since 1989.

Now due to his mum's ill health and subsequent move into a Barrow nursing home, Mr Crawford is facing eviction

Readers have had their say...

Stephen Snell I hope he’s helped too... although I don’t hold out much hope. He should be commended for paying rent all this time.

June Eccles Oh my Goodness, I find this very sad, Well done young man for looking after your Mum and getting her the right care, But with the threat of eviction I feel sorry for you. It's a cruel world we live in these days. I wish you well

Mike Braithwaite A single man looking for council accommodation? You’re at the bottom of that long list and you’ll never, ever, get within the top 1000.

Lesley Robson This is such a shame and I do hope a good solution can be found for him - I can understand accommodation is needed for families but perhaps the council could show some compassion if only to transfer tenancy or allow longer timescales for him to come to terms with the situation and find alternative accommodation

Yvonne Tippett You look after someone, that’s the thanks he gets. Poor bloke hope they let him stop, it’s his is home. Good luck

Kirsty Hoggarth It’s a shame for the poor guy especially due to the circumstances. I know of someone living in a 3 bed council house in Ulverston and they haven't been evicted but yet this guy has.

Leanne Longmire I was under the impression he would just have to pay the “bedroom tax”.
