SCHOOLS across Furness showed their dedication to raising awareness of mental health issues as they took part in a special fundraising initiative.

Pupils took part in Hello Yellow for World Mental Health, donning golden clothing to raise money for young persons mental health charity.

Greengate Junior School, Cambridge Primary School, St Pius X Catholic Primary School, Vickerstown Primary School and Dowdales School were among schools to take part.

The aim of the initiative was shed light on mental wellness and raise money for YoungMinds.

Resource packs were provided to schools by Dan Webber, who raises money and awareness under his Kick Off 4 Mental Health group.

A spokesman for Greengate Junior School said: “Well-being and being healthy mentally are very important to the families, staff and children of Greengate, so we joined in positively as the whole country worked together to raise awareness of these issues with a ‘wear yellow for mental health’ day- we raised some money too, which was donated to a local mental health charity.

“The children looked fantastic in their yellow clothing/outfits and they listened superbly during the assembly when they were told all about our physical and mental health and how important it is that we look after both.”

The school managed to raise £115 for YoungMinds, a leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health.
