INVESTIGATIONS are being carried out by officers after a police van collided with a car.

Police said the crash happened just after 11am near the Rawlinson Street junction on Barrow's Abbey Road.

Both cars were seen with extensive damage to bodywork following the collision.

A section of the road was partially blocked while police investigated the scene and removed the van and Vauxhall Astra from the road.

Cumbria Police confirmed that neither driver was injured in the crash.

Officers have also confirmed the matter has not been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct but investigations were ongoing.
