A BUTCHERS in Grange are having a design your own sausage competition.

Higginsons of Grange have created this competition to celebrate UK sausage week by offering customers the chance to earn a place in their Sausage ‘Hall of Fame’.

The competition will close on 4th November. Customers are invited to dream up a sausage creation including a name and the key ingredients. The winning entry will then be made and sold in the shop and the winner will walk away with an armful of their own sausage variety

Stuart Higginson, Owner of Higginsons commented, “We like to run a competition every year for Sausage Week, which always falls around Bonfire Night. It’s nice to get customers actively involved and this year, we hope that plenty of people will enter. We already sell around 60 sausage varieties in the shop so customers will have to be creative to come up with something new and exciting!”

Higginsons will also be producing some seasonal sausage specials during Sausage Week and Bonfire Night utilising local ingredients.

Mark Porter, General Manager at Higginsons said, “Our Cumberland Firecracker sausage is a twist on our best-selling traditional Cumberland recipe with a good amount of heat, that leaves a nice zing on your tongue. We will also be making our Sticky Toffee Apple sausage which has a sweetness that the kids love, made with the famous, local Cartmel Sticky Toffee sauce. Our Smoky Chipotle Sausage has an earthy and smoky barbecue flavour to it, which is perfect with some relish in a finger bun”.
