READERS react to the opening of BAE Systems' hotly anticipated 750 space temporary car park.

Barrie Baz H Hetherington said: "Oh well, I know it's early days but barrow Island is rammed as usual and the new carpark is not even half full. Will only get worse when winter kicks in as it's one hell of a hike and yes they run a shuttle bus but the waiting area isn't up to much."

Clynt Martin said: "I think it's about time BAE took the same approach as Sellafield and told their staff to car share at least 3 per car? This would not only reduce the parking issues but also help with the traffic issue around Hollywood park."

William Tyson said: "Is the access gate on Dundee Street to the new multi story car park going to be closed off for good before somebody seriously gets injured?"

Lee Thompson said: "Should have built the multi story car park the moment the HIP building was knocked down!"

Greg Rose said: "Great news at last."

Sarah Hill said: "I hope they own boats because it floods when it rains."

Andy Pickup said: "Great news for Walney, stop them from blocking the road up everyday!"

Chris Kirkby said: "It will not make much of a difference because the yard workers will park where they want anyway, they think they run the town."

Diane Thornton said: "Bet it won’t stop them blocking the B&Q service road entrance."

Raymond Dobson said: "Does this mean Walney promenade isn't going to get used as a BAE overflow car park."

Sean Muir said: "If you live and work in the same town there's no need for a car, just walk."

Darren Gill said: "Get the staff and management on the buses."

Louise Livesey said: "I don’t know why the field opposite the coop isn’t made into a carpark, they could pay a nominal fee per year."
