A COUPLE who invited their loved ones to a surprise second wedding have officially tied the knot.

Amy Crossland-Browne, 27, and Kirsty Crossland-Browne, 29, have declared their love in two separate settings among their nearest and dearest.

Amy, a nurse from Kendal, first locked eyes on Kirsty, a social worker from Ulverston, four years ago when they began working at the Croft Care Trust in Barrow.

The pair were firm friends before they first officially got together four years ago.

Amy said: “We were friends for quite a while first before we got together.

“It was a natural progression where we both began spending more time together and it went from there.

“It was a bit of a mutual realisation where we both realised we wanted to be together.”

Amy described herself as the ‘joker of the relationship’.

“Kirsty definitely enjoys my sense of humour,” she said.

“We both have backgrounds in the caring profession so have developed a lot of empathy for each other’s jobs.”

The pair decided to take their relationship to the next step by becoming engaged a year later.

Amy popped the question during a romantic weekend away in Chester.

“I proposed on our year anniversary. We had a meal in the restaurant and then after when we went to the room there were petals everywhere.

“I then set up so a message would ping to her phone of our dog Poppy holding a sign saying will you marry mum.”

The couple, who now live and work in Carlisle, first had an intimate wedding with just eleven people present at Armathwaite Hall near Keswick.

Amy said: “We only had both our mums and bridesmaids present.

“It was quite an intimate day which is what we both wanted.

“No one actually knew we were getting married which was a bit of a surprise.

“We actually had the wedding outside on the gazebo because it was such nice weather.

“We also had our Labradoodle dog Poppy present for the ceremony which we loved.

“The next day we sent invites out saying we’ve got married and would people like to come to our celebration in Ulverston.”

The newlyweds declared their love once again at the The Olde Mill in Bardsea in front of 75 guests.

Amy said: “It was an afternoon tea style of food which Kirsty loves.

“We both did a flash dance that nobody knew about to Rewrite the Stars from The Greatest Showman.

“It was a perfect day.”

The couple are heading to a tour across America for their honeymoon.
