DINING challenge Kitchen Rivals is returning to Cumbria on November 28.

Teams from legal firm Baines Wilson and Barclays Bank will go head to head under the watchful eye of chefs from the Lodore Falls Hotel, near Keswick, to see who can create the best all-round dining experience.

Guests will be asked to judge the teams by paying what they thought the evening was worth.

Since 2016 the event has raised more than £36,000 for good causes. This year the businesses will be raising money for Cumbria Community Foundation, Keswick Scout Group and Carlisle and Eden Mind.

Cumbrian businesses are being asked to donate towards auction or raffle prizes.

Joanne Holborn from legal firm Baines Wilson, which has offices in Lancaster and Carlisle, said; “If we could bring our total up to £50,000 that would be fantastic. To achieve that we’re calling on any businesses that can offer experiences to donate towards this fantastic event and benefit local charities."

Daniella Hope, marketing director for Lake District Hotels, added: "The Lodore is the perfect venue to host such a fabulous event, especially as the hotel will be decorated for Christmas. We are all looking forward to another great evening, raising money for three well-deserving causes."

Abigail Bailey, business development manager for Barclays, said: "We received such positive feedback from our guests last time, we decided it was time to revisit the challenge in 2019. Barclays supports staff to get involved in the causes they are passionate about and all the charities we are supporting through this event provide fantastic support across Cumbria; making a real and lasting difference to the local community.”

Businesses supporting the event so far include Rogan & Co of Cartmel; Windermere-based kitchenware company Lakeland; Grasmere Gingerbread; CBA Events of Keswick; M Sport of Cockermouth; the Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater; Lyon Equipment; Langdale; and the North Lakes Hotel, Penrith.
