A BARROW hotel's restaurant has been named among an exclusive list of eateries to feature in the AA's 2020 Restaurant Guide.
The Abbey House Hotel & Gardens, home to Oscar's Bar, is one of 67 restaurants in Cumbria to make the food lover’s guide to the best cuisine in Britain.
It contains over 2,000 restaurants currently awarded Rosettes for culinary excellence by the AA’s professional inspectors.
John Horton, general manager of the Abbey House Hotel and Gardens, said: “We’re both delighted and proud to once again be awarded an AA Rosette; it’s excellent news and fantastic recognition for the team behind Oscar’s Bar and Restaurant and the Abbey House Hotel and Gardens at large.
“We place a huge emphasis on our food and drinks offering, investing money, time and energy into ensuring we have the right colleagues, with the best facilities to deliver the finest cuisine to both hotel guests and casual diners.
“Oscar’s is open to all - and I’d really encourage food lovers to come and enjoy the menu created by our head chef Ashley Wood.”
Ashley, who had worked at some of the Lake District’s top hotels before joining the Abbey House, said: “The real focus is always on delivering an excellent dining experience for the customer - although we are obviously very happy to retain our rosette.
“I am very passionate about using the very best produce, sourced and supplied locally wherever possible.
“For my team and me, cooking is a passion. We put our hearts and souls into what we do, day in and day out and hopefully that is reflected in the dishes we serve.
“There is some exciting news about Oscar’s on the horizon, and we look forward to sharing that with customers old and new very soon.”
