A REHEARSAL for the next census is underway in Carlisle.

People in homes were urged to fill in questionnaires yesterday. The push followed advice sessions held in the city throughout last week.

Thousands of people across Carlisle have completed the questions to help the Office for National Statistics test the systems and processes it has put in place ahead of the 2021 Census.

“I want to thank everyone in Carlisle who has already completed their questionnaire – we’ve had a great response,” deputy national statistician Iain Bell said.

“It helps us make sure everything is working as it should ahead of the next census in 2021.”

In the next few days census field staff will be out following up with households who have not yet responded. For help, call 0800 141 2021, text 86677 or tweet @census2021help.
