A PENSIONER threatened to shoot police officers after accusing them of torturing his wife.

Aleksander Perzylo’s wife had been arrested on July 6 following an ongoing alleged dispute with their next-door neighbours.

While his wife was in custody Perzylo made several 999 calls in which he told the call handlers Benson Adams and Susan Newsham he would shoot them if his wife wasn’t released as he believed they had kept her at the police station for too long.

In some of his calls to the 999 control room 71-year-old Perzylo accused police of torturing or killing her.

In response to his threats to shoot the call handler armed police were sent to his home in Rating Lane.

While he was being arrested Perzylo threw a watch at PC Peet, a female police officer, which hit her on the arm and caused a scratch.

Perzylo was then taken to the nearby Furness General Hospital where he made a number of racist comments regarding which doctor he would allow to examine him.

At South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday Perzylo was sentenced after pleading guilty to assaulting an emergency services worker, two counts of making offensive phone calls intended to cause distress, and using threatening words which were racially aggravated.

Perzylo was fined a total of £1,390 for the four offences.

He was also ordered to pay a £90 victim surcharge and £200 court costs.

He was given a six-month curfew requiring him to remain indoors between the hours of 12 noon and 12 midnight until April 9 in 2020.
