A CARLISLE woman has been ordered to pay more than £400 after she admitted a racially aggravated assault.

Michelle Jane Currie, 52, assaulted Mohammed Saleem by beating on December 14 in Carlisle, with the court ruling that the offence was racially aggravated.

Currie, of Oakleigh Way in the Botcherby area of the city, admitted the charge before Carlisle's magistrates' court on Thursday.

She was fined £189, ordered to pay £50 in compensation and to pay a £30 victim surcharge.
