COUNCILLORS have expressed concern at the possible sale of a public greenspace.

Members of Askam and Ireleth were given a briefing a meeting with developer Modlar to discuss plans to develop land in-between Sharp Street and Beach Street.

Minutes from the meeting said: "The parish council do not agree that this is appropriate for the development of houses and present many worrying issues including extra traffic, access to the site, the land, which is being offered to the resident, which will include an unadopted road.

"The parish council agreed to support the residents and agreed that this area should be kept as a public greenspace.

"The parish council advised Modlar to make contact with the residents committee and meet with them."

A report written by councillor Bill Wilson on the meeting has been sent to the residents committee, with copies available by contacting the council.
