AN American style steam locomotive was the star attraction at an open day in Barrow Park held by the Furness Model Railway Club 30 years ago.
Hustler was brought from Carlisle for the day to provide rides on an oval circuit in the Park.
It was driven by Mark Potter of the Carlisle Model Engineering Society.
The Mail, on Monday, May 22 in 1989, noted: "It took up to seven visitors at a time on a trip round the 800ft model five-inch gauge rail track."
Fred Firth, chairman of Furness Model Railway Club, said: "Hustler represents one of the last generation of steam locomotives built after the war."
Also at the event was a tank locomotive from Workington, a shunter from Millom and even a vintage Rolls Royce Car.
Engineering section members of the Furness club runs trips around the Barrow Park track on summer Sundays and will have projects on show at the Furness Model Railway Exhibition at Barrow Sixth Form College on Saturday and Sunday, October 12 to 13
