Mail readers have spoken out in support of veterans who end up homeless after leaving the armed forces.

Tom Hendrie said: "No one should live on the street but simply providing somewhere to live isn’t gong to help a lot of ex services. Many of them have issues relating to their service and they need a whole package of support to help them settle and maintain tenancies."

Michael Douglas said: "PTSD homeless shelters should be funded by the Government, for those who served for their country. If we can spend billions on a defence budget, I’m sure we can spare a couple of million on these shelters? I’m sure 95 per cent of people would support this."

Sean Peace said: "If you are willing to die for queen and country you should be put 1st on the list, Respect to those who have served in our armed forces we owe you one."

Shain Bird said: "All citizens should have a right to a home, quality of the home should come down to contribution to society, old people and veterans first, people with large families second, young mum's that never worked next then the got off the boat people."

Bill Maddrick said: "Yes they look after us on land and Sea and in the air, give them a house."

Barbara Stewart said: "Why don't they make tiny homes out of those big shipping containers for anyone who needs them they aren't to expensive and they could make a kind of estate full of them for who ever wants them."

Greg Rose said: "Veteran or not everyone should have the dignity of a roof over their head, in one of the world's richest countries."
