A WALNEY councillor has complained about vehicles being left on double yellow lines on the promenade.
Cllr Mel Worth said a boat on trailer had been parked up for around three weeks followed by a caravan and a further boat.
Cllr Worth said they were on double yellow lines and that he had alerted Police Community Support Officers to the problem.
However, Austin Shields, the parking manager for Cumbria County Council, said civil enforcement officers cannot ticket ‘untethered’ boats or trailers left on double yellow lines because they are not classed as motorised road vehicles.
“If it is causing a highways issue on the network we can look into it,” said Mr Shields.
Barrow mayor Cllr Kevin Hamilton said anything that could be attached to a car should be treated as a motorised vehicle.
