After Boots announced they will begin charging people for prescription deliveries, The Mail readers had their say on what this decision will mean for the people of Barrow.

Matthew Jacob: People are obliged to go elsewhere to find the cheapest. The people saying it should be free, Boots would love to sign you up to offer the delivery service free of charge.

Gemma Elizabeth: Of course they charge! The NHS aren't paying the petrol costs and the delivery drivers wages, if they didn't charge it would cost them a fortune.

June Eccles: What happens if all the medication isn't in stock and a second delivery is needed is that another £5 for delivery? With my medical problem I never know when I'm going to be housebound two days are never the same. All the dispensing is being done from the new health centre, looks like people needing the delivery service will be paying towards the cost of building it.

Blanche Turner: No it's not right, it should be free to be delivered there are many older OAPs and out of work people who cannot afford it. The sick just wouldn't manage the walk to the chemist, they are being penalised because they are ill.

Brian Sinclair: Change chemists. Boots are more expensive than anywhere else. Try supermarkets,.I changed a couple of years ago and had first class service from Asda. (Plus most things are more than half price than Boots)

Lauren Smith: A business charging for an optional service isn’t penalising anyone

Antöny Statham: Just another tax. Keep the poor poor that is what it is.

Hannah-Jayne Irvine: Pretty sure there’s other services that deliver prescriptions free

John Watson-Rigg: Easy move to another pharmacy the delivers for free

Sommer Edwards: All the dispensing wont be done by the health centre, just those who want their prescription from there. Portland walk and risedale road will still be dispensing.
