A DALTON school is holdings its open evening later this month.

Dowdales School is inviting prospective pupils and parents to the event on September 25.

The night will feature a number of activities including experiments in science,different sports in PE and fun activities in English and maths.

The opening evening takes place between 6pm and 8pm.

The week after the school will hold its open week.

The school said: "We look forward to you joining our successful community. If you want to come and see Dowdales in action we have an open week coming up for Year 6 students on 30th September 2019 and open night on 25th September."

The school was recently praised in Ofsted inspection, receiving a 'good' grade in all areas.

The report said students and staff were proud to be part of the Dowdales community, proud of a community that has been recognised as ‘close knit’ where ‘pupils are well known and well cared for’.

It also said students feel safe, well supported and are recognised has having good manners.

The school noted the report saying students’ positive behaviour was mirrored in lessons where they conduct themselves in a purposeful manner to ensure that they all make the progress expected of them.
