A FURNESS primary school has embarked on a challenge to become the best reading champions of the area.
St Pius X Catholic primary school has entered the ‘space chase’ challenge, encouraging children aged four to 11 to read six library books during the long summer holiday, in the hopes of becoming the top school in the area.
Head teacher Kevin McGoldrick said: “A huge well done to the children who completed the Space Chase challenge. Fingers crossed that we may be the top school again for the area.”
The annual Summer Reading Challenge helps get three quarters of a million children into libraries each year to keep up their reading skills and confidence.
