A SCHOOL band said ciao to Italy to perform a series of concerts.

Ulverston Victoria High School’s Wind Band embarked on a three-day tour across Italy where they performed four concerts to sets of eager crowds.

The band, accompanied by deputy headteacher Richard Butler, explored the medieval town of Garda where they collected souvenirs and presents for home before performing an evening concert.

The evening’s concert was up in the foothills of the Dolomite mountains, in the picturesque village of San Zeno di Montagne, where the band performed to a packed venue.

Mr Butler said the concert ‘was one of the best performances the band has ever given.’

The students spent the second day exploring the adrenaline-filled Gardaland Theme Park where thrill-seekers enjoyed a host of theme park rides followed by a late afternoon swim.

The band then set off for their final concert in the nearby town of Pastrengo.

Mr Butler said: “Again, the concert was amazing, and to another very appreciative audience as well as another TV station.

“This was an amazing trip for all 100 of us.

“As well as giving four amazing concerts, we experienced the Italian culture and saw some fantastic sights. Roll on next year’s tour.”

The band then set off on a long-haul journey back to Ulverston.
